Quick & Easy Country Gravy

2 cups milk
1 T butter
1 chicken bullion cube, crushed to powder
2 – 4 T cornstarch or flour (thickening)
Black pepper to taste
Mix together the thickening and 1/2 cup milk in a small bowl. Set aside. Heat 1 1/2 cups milk, butter, and bullion in saucepan, stirring with wire whisk constantly. Slowly pour in the thickening mixture, stirring with the wire whisk to prevent lumping, until desired texture. Pepper to taste. Serve hot with biscuits or mashed potatoes. (Lydia likes it cold with Ritz crackers for breakfast!)
