Margie's Chocolate Cake

2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 c. Crisco
1 c. water
4 Tbsp cocoa
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp soda
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla

Sift flour and sugar together. In medium sized saucepan, mix butter, Crisco, water and cocoa. Let come to boil, stirring constantly. Pour over flour/sugar mix. Add soda to buttermilk and let set 5 minutes. Add buttermilk/soda mix, eggs and vanilla to flour mixture. Bake at 350 for 25-35 minutes.

Icing
1 stick butter
4 Tbsp cocoa
6 Tbsp milk
1 lb powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 c. chopped nuts
2 c. coconut

Bring butter, cocoa & milk to boil. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients. Put on cake while it and the icing are both hot.
