Chocolate Drops

1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 c. sour milk
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp soda
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Melt chocolate. Combine shortening, sugar, and egg with chocolate. Mix well. Stir in milk and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Mix in nuts. Chill 15-20 minutes. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2" apart on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 for 8-10 minutes. Makes 3 1/2 dozen.
