Ethal's Sugar Cookies

1/4 c. + 2 Tbsp butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp lemon flavoring
1 1/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
2-3 drops green food coloring

Cream the shortening, sugar, egg and flavoring thoroughly. Shake 2-3 drops of green food coloring into the mixture. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt. Blend together and chill. Roll dough to 1/8" thick on a lightly floured board. Cut with different shaped cookie cutters. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake at 400 for 6-8 minutes. Makes 2 dozen.
