Nutmeg Feather Cake

1/4 c. butter or margarine
1/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
3 beaten eggs
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 c. buttermilk

Cream butter and shortening together; gradually add sugar, creaming until light. Add vanilla. Add eggs, beat until light and fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating after each addition. Pour into greased 13x9x2 pan. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until done.

Broiled Coconut Frosting
1/4 c. butter or margarine
1 c. brown sugar
2 Tbsp light cream
1 c. flaked or shredded coconut

Cream butter and sugar. Add cream, mix well. Stir in coconut. Spread mixture over warm cake. Broil 4-5" from heat, about 4 minutes or until golden brown. Serve cake warm.
