Cocoa Drop Cookies

1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
3/4 c. buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
1 3/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c. cocoa
1 c. nuts

Mix shortening, butter, sugar and egg thoroughly. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. Sift together flour, salt, soda and cocoa. Stir into butter mixture. Mix in nuts. Chill at least 1 hr. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2" apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake just until, when touched lightly wiht finger, almost no imprint remains. Frost.

Browned Butter Glaze:
Melt 1/4 c. butter until golden brown being careful not to burn. Blend in 1 c. sifted powdered sugar and 1/2 tsp vanilla. Stir in 1-2 Tbsp hot water.
