  • 5 pounds chicken wings
  • 10 ounces red hot sauce
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Remove and discard the chicken wing tips. Separate the flappers and drummies at the joint.

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the hot sauce, butter, ketchup, chili powder, cumin, and garlic powder. Bring to a simmer, stirring frequently. Remove the pan from the heat. Remove 1/2 cup of the sauce and set aside.

Place the chicken wing pieces on a broiler pan. Brush the wings on all sides with the remaining sauce (alternately, you can transfer the sauce to a large bowl and add the wings, stirring to coat them in the sauce then transfer to the broiler pan).

Place the chicken wings in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through and browned.

Brush the Mexican chicken wings with the reserved sauce before serving.
