Category: Vegetables
Serves/Makes: 2
Difficulty: 2
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
1/2 pound fresh green beans (trimmed)
1 Large shallot sliced
2 t fresh garlic minced
4 T butter
1 T Sorrento Lemon Olive Oil*
1 T seasame seeds
3 T kosher salt
Directions:
Bring water to boil in a medium sauce. Add kosher salt. Cook green beans for about 4 to 5 minutes. Do not overcook. Drain immediately.
In medium skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and butter till melted. Add sliced shallot. Saute for 2 minutes, add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
Add drained beans and using tongs toss beans until all are coated with butter/shallot mixture. Heat through.
Right before serving add seasame seeds, squeeze about 2 t fresh lemon juice and toss.
Serve immediately.
*Sorrento Lemon Olive Oil is available at The Olive Tap in Long Grove, IL or online at theolivetap-dot-com. Of course you can use regular olive oil but using the Sorrento gives it a deeper lemon flavor.
Cooks Notes: When I was a young wife I was watching Julia Child and she was making green beans with butter and seasame seeds. I remember thinking this was so fancy! What do you want, I was 19. I've dressed it up a bit since then and it is still a go to quick veggie that goes with any kind of meat or fish.
