Crock Pot Bean Soup with Basil

1/2 pound dried white kidney beans or Great Northern beans
1 pound lean stew beef, cut in 1" cubes
1 28 oz. can whole tomatoes
2 medium turnips, peeled and diced
2 medium onions, chopped
1 large potato, peeled and diced
2 small zucchini, diced
2 stalks celery, sliced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon salt
2 teaspoons leaf basil
1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper

Following package directions, cook beans until tender, drain.

Combine all ingredients in crock pot, add water to cover and mix well.

Cover and cook on high setting for 2 hours, then turn to low setting for 5 to 7 hours or cook entire time on high setting for 5 to 6 hours.
Serves 4.
