Spiced Mocha Punch

2 cups coffee
1 1/2 sticks cinnamon, broken into halves
6 whole cloves
6 whole allspice
2 32 ounce cartons eggnog
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 pint heavy cream, whipped
1 quart vanilla ice cream, slightly softened
round nutmeg, optional

In a small saucepan, combine the coffee, cinnamon, cloves and allspice. Simmer for 15 minutes. Strain and discard the solids. Refrigerate until chilled.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the coffee mixture with eggnog and vanilla. Fold in the whipped cream. Place the mixture in a large punch bowl, gently stir in the softened ice cream. Sprinkle with nutmeg.
Serves 24.
