Five-Spice Shrimp

2 teaspoons five-spice powder
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1/3 cup garlic oil or vegetable oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
2 1/2 pounds medium or large shrimp, cooked and shelled

In a medium bowl, combine five-spice powder, sesame oil, garlic oil, soy sauce and vinegar. Whisk to blend well, then toss with shrimp. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours and up to 24 hours.

Pass shrimp with toothpicks or on small plates with forks. Do not use extra-large or jumbo shrimp, they are messy as a pickup appetizer.
Yields 8 appetizer servings.
