Fresh Peach Ice Cream

2 lbs. fresh peaches, peeled, mashed a little,
2 1/2 cups sugar, divided
juice from 3 lemons
1 quart half and half
1/2 pint whipping cream
3 cups whole milk
1/2 tsp. almond extract

Mash peaches a little and add 1/2 cup sugar. Let peach mixture stand while remainder of ingredients are combined in freezer
compartment of ice cream maker.

Add peach mixture and process according to manufacturer's instructions.
Yields about 5 quarts.
