Deep South Ginger Cake

1 1/2 sticks butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 cups all purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup chocolate pieces

Mix together butter, brown sugar and molasses. Add egg and
continue mixing, until well combined.

Sift together flour, salt, cloves, cinnamon, ginger and baking
powder. Cream flour mixture with butter mixture. Mix in chocolate pieces. Wrap in wax paper and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Spray cookie sheet with cook ing oil spray or lightly grease and
thinly spread mixture on it. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 10 minutes. Cut into squares and cool.
Serves 10 to 12.
