Greek Hot Dog Sauce

- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 medium onions, peeled and finely diced
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 can (15 ounce size) tomato sauce
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
Place the ground beef and onions in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until the beef is cooked. Drain off any excess grease. Add the remaining ingredients to the saucepan. Mix well and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to low and let simmer for 1-2 hours. The flavors will intensify the longer it cooks. Remove from the heat and serve warm over hot dogs in buns. Store leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
