Brioche

1 2/3 c flour
3 1/4 t active dry yeast
3 T sugar
1/4 t salt
1/3 c milk, warm
2 3/4 oz unsalted butter, soft
3 eggs
1 T sugar
Stir flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
Gradually add warm milk, butter, 2 eggs into flour mix; knead until dough is smooth
and ready to rise when it is smooth and pulls away from sides of the bowl.
Cover bowl, allow to rise 2 hrs until doubled in size.
Punch it down a few times. Put onto floured surface.
Divide dough into 3 balls.
Roll each ball into 10" long rope, then braid together.
Tuck ends under and place braid in a greased 9x5" baking pan.
OR punch down and form it into a simple oval.
Now, cover pan; allow to rise an additional hour, until doubled.
Preheat oven 400F .
Gently brush with 1 beaten egg, sprinkle with sugar.
Bake 10 min.
Reduce heat 350F; bake 25 min more.
Allow to cool 5 min in pan, transfer to a wire rack.
