Brians Famous BBQ Spare Ribs

Category: Recipes

Ingredients:

7-10# Spare Ribs (2 racks)
1 Tbsp Salt
1 tsp Pepper
1 tsp Garlic powder
1 tsp Onion powder
2 cups BBQ Sauce

Prepare ribs. Par-boil ribs with salt, pepper, garlic & onion powder for 1 1/2 hours. Remove ribs and discard liquid. Coat ribs with BBQ sauce (using about 1/2 the sauce) and let stand 1/2 hour. Pre heat grill. Place ribs in baking pan on rack and cook over medium heat 15 minutes then baste with remaining sauce. Cook another 20-30 minutes. Grilling them with smoke chips really puts them over-the-top!

Tips to prepare ribs:
Trim the membrane sheath from the back of the rack. A trick to removing the membrane: use a dry butter knife and scrape into the membrane at the small end of the spare ribs, then take a piece of paper towel and grip it and tug...should come off every time in one piece Remove as much as possible. Trim fat and cut into 3 rib sections.

BBQ Sauce:
I chose 1 1/4 cups Sweet Baby Ray's 3/4 cup Open Pit with 1/4 tsp liquid smoke added.
