- 1/3 cup soft margarine
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cup applesauce
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
***TOPPING***
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Using electric mixer, cream margarine and sugar until smooth. Add applesauce, vanilla and egg and beat well. Add flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, baking powder, baking soda; mix well. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 to 20 minutes or until evenly browned. TOPPING: Combine sugar with cinnamon. Sprinkle over hot cookies.
