- 1 cup hot water
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 4 cups cold water
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
- 6 ounces maraschino cherries, undrained
Combine the sugar and first measure of water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir for 2-3 minutes or until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool. Combine the sugar-water, cold water, lemon juice and undrained maraschino cherries in a large pitcher. Stir well. Fill individual glasses with ice. Pour the cherry lemonade over the ice and serve. Cook's Notes: A fun alternative to this recipe is to pour the maraschino cherries and their juice into an ice cube tray (evenly distribute the cherries among the cubes). Let freeze and then stir into the lemonade just before serving.
