Charlene's Recipe

Vanilla frosting

1 cup shortening
2 tsp salt
8 tsp vanilla
12 cup confectioners' sugar, sifted after measuring
1 cup milk

Combine shortening, salt, vanilla and about 1/2 of the sugar. Add milk and remaining sugar alternately, mixing well until smooth and creamy. Add more sugar or more milk to thicken or thin the frosting, if required. Beat until of spreading consistency.
