Easy Chocolate Frosting

12 squares unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup plus 1 Tbsp butter
3 tsp vanilla
1 cup plus 5 Tbsp pet milk
9 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
5/8 tsp salt

Combine chocolate, butter, salt and pet milk in the top of double boiler. Cook over hot water until chocolate is melted. Gradually stir in the confectioners' sugar, stirring constantly to remove any lumps which may appear. Add vanilla and cool until of spreading consistently.
