Quick apple crisp

5 granny smith apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced into rings
1 (9 oz) pkg yellow cake mix
2 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
1/4 cup butter, melted

Preheat oven to 350 F. Cut apple slices crosswise in half. Place in greased 9 inch baking pan; sprinkle with dry cake mix. In small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over cake mix. Drizzle with butter. Bake 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown. Serve warm with ice cream, if desired.
VARIATION:
Add 1/4 cup raisins, chopped nuts or rolled oats to sugar- cinnamon mixture, if desired.
