Apple nut cake

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup cooking oil
1 stick margarine
3 cups cake flour
3 tsp flour
3 tsp vanilla
2 tsp baking soda
3 eggs
3 cup diced fresh apples
1 cup black walnuts
TOPPING:
1 stick margarine
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 cup brown sugar

Mix ingredients together, adding apples and nuts last. Place in greased and floured pan. Bake 45 minutes at 375 F. Combine topping ingredients, bring to a boil and cook several minutes while constantly stirring to prevent sticking. Leave cake in pan, punch hones in top, and pour topping over cake. Cake is best after 24 hours.
