Crusty Honey Whole Wheat Bread

Makes 24 slices
2 cup all purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
2 pkg dry yeast
1 Tbsp salt
1 cup milk
1 cup water
1/2 cup honey
3 Tbsp margarine
1 egg
1 1/2- 2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
Combine 2 cups all purpose flour, 1 cup whole wheat flour, yeast and salt in large mixer bowl. Heat milk, water, honey and margarine to 120 F in saucepan. Add warm milk mixture and egg to dry ingredients. Beat with dough hook for 3 minutes or by hand until smooth. Add enough remaining flours gradually to make stiff dough. Knead with dough hood for 4 minutes or by hand 5-8 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl, turning to grease surface. Let rise, covered, in warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in bulk. Shape into 2 loaves. Place in greased 5x9 inch pans. Let rise, covered, for 1 1/2 hours or until doubled in bulk. Bake at 375 F for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350 F and bake for 30-35 minutes longer or until brown. Cool on wire rack.
