Norwegian Pie

Serves 8

3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1 egg
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 cup chopped tart cooking apples, peeled

Combine sugar, flour and unbeaten egg. Mix. Add salt, baking powder and vanilla. Mix well. Stir in nuts and apples. Pour batter into well buttered pie dish. Bake 30 minutes at 350 F or until crusty and brown. To serve, scoop up with spatula (keeping crusty part on top) Place on serving plate, top with whipped cream and a sprinkling of chopped nuts. May be topped with ice cream.
