Ice Cream Pie

Makes 2 cups sauce.

1 (10 inch) baked pie shell
1 quart vanilla ice cream
1 quart coffee ice cream (or butter pecan)
5 egg whites
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup sugar
SAUCE:
2 (6 oz) pkgs sweet chocolate bits
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
3/4 cup light cream

Soften ice cream and spread in the pie shell. Freeze. Beat egg whites and vanilla until soft peaks form. Add 2 Tbsp of sugar at a time and beat until stiff. Spread over frozen ice cream. Broil 5-6 inches from heat until golden brown. Return to freezer. In the top of a double boiler melt chocolate with 1/2 cup cream until thick. Remove from heat and gradually beat in remaining cream. Makes 2 cups sauce.
Serve in pie wedges with chocolate sauce.
