Brown sugar pound cake

1 lb light brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 sticks butter
3/4 cup Crisco
5 eggs
3 cups plain flour, sifted
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla (add to milk)
1 cup chopped pecans

Cream sugars with soft butter and Crisco. Add eggs one at a time; beat well after each. Mix baking powder add a dash of salt to flour; add alternately with milk to butter mixture, begin and end with flour. Fold in nuts and pour into greased tube pan. Bake 1 1/2 hours at 350 F. Test with straw; if clean, cake will be done.
