Charlene's Recipe

Apple cake

2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups oil
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 cups sifted plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
3 cups chopped apples (winesap are good)
3/4 cup chopped nuts
ICING:
8 oz cream cheese (soft)
3/4 box XXXX sugar
1/2 stick butter (soft)

With electric mixer, combine sugar, oil, eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Add flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Mix well. Add apples and nuts. Bake in sheet pan at 350 F for 45 minutes to an hour.
ICING: Mix ingrdients until creamed well. Pour over cake.
