Zippy beef casserole

Makes 4-6 servings

4 oz uncooked elbow macaroni
1 lb ground beef
1 can (10 1/2 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
3/4 cup milk
2/3 cup ketchup
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1-2 Tbsp instant minced onion
1 tsp salt
1 cup crushed potato chips

Heat oven to 350 F. Cook macaroni as directed on package. Cook and stir ground beef until brown. Drain off fat.
In ungreased 2 quart casserole mix macaroni, beef and remaining ingredients except potato chips. Cover and bake 40 minutes. Sprinkle top with potato chips, bake uncovered 5 minutes longer.
TO MAKE AHEAD: Prepare casserole as directed above except do not bake. Cover and refrigerate up to 12 hours.
