Scalloped onions

6 small onion
6 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp flour
1 1/4 cups milk
salt and pepper to taste
buttered bread crumbs

Cook onions until tender in boiling salted water. Drain, slice in baking dish. Melt butter; stir in flour, add milk and cook until thick. Season with salt and pepper, pour over onion and cover with buttered crumbs. Bake at 375 F for 25 minutes.
