Lemon Nut bread

1/4 cup butter
2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2/3 cup shopped nuts
1 Tbsp grated lemon peel
apples

Cream butter in bowl, add sugar and mix until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs. Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt before adding alternately with apples to creamed mixture. Stir in walnuts and lemon peel. Turn into a greased 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 F for 50 minutes. Cool 10 minutes in pan.
