Country Coffee Cake

Serves 9

1 1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup butter
2 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk
14 1/2 oz can cherry or apple pie filling

Combine sugar, butter, flour and baking powder in a mixing bowl; mix well with an electric mixer on medium speed. Mixture will be crumbly; set aside one cup for topping. Beat together eggs and milk; stir into mixture in mixing bowl. Pour into a lightly greased 9x9 inch baking pan. Spread pie filling over top; sprinkle with reserved topping. Bake at 350 F for 45 minutes, until golden.
