Prep Time:       Cook Time:       Total Time:

Serves 1

2 tsp softened butter
1 whole wheat bread slice
1 large egg
salt, sprinkle
pepper, sprinkle

Spread the butter on both sides of the bread. Cut a heart shape from the center of the bread with a cookie cutter.
Grease the frying pan with the cooking spray. Heat the pan on medium for 3 minutes. Put the bread slice and cut out in the pan beside each other. Carefully break the egg into the hole in the bread slice. Break the yolk by poking it with a fork.
Sprinkle the egg with salt and pepper. Cook for about 4 minutes until the egg is almost set and the bread is golden. Carefully turn over the bread slice the cut out with the lifter. Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes until the bottoms are golden and the egg is set. Remove to the plate. Tear the cut out in half to make a "broken heart". Place both halves beside the egg toast on the plate.
