Beef Mushroom soup

1/2 lb fresh mushrooms, sliced
2 Tbsp butter
1 lb ground beef
2 packages (1 oz each) onion gravy mix
6 oz. can tomato paste
1 lb thick sliced carrots
3 1/2 cups water
salt (to taste)

Quickly saute mushrooms in butter in large kettle. Remove mushrooms and brown meat in the same kettle. Stir in gravy mix. Add paste, carrots, water and mushrooms; bring to a boil. Cover and simmer 15 minutes. Season. Make a day before serving in order to remove congealed fat.
