Cream cheese nut bread

Makes 1 loaf

1/3 cup sugar
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 egg
2 1/4 cup flour
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp grated lemon rind
1 cup chopped pecans

Cream 1/3 cup sugar and cream cheese in mixer bowl until fluffy. Blend in 1 egg.
Combine flour, remaining dry ingredients and pecans in bowl. Beat 2 eggs in bowl until frothy. Add oil, milk and lemon rind; mix well. Add to dry ingredients; mix just until moistened. Spoon half the mixture into a greased 5x9-inch loaf pan.
Top with cream cheese mixture and remaining batter. Bake at 350 F for 1 hour. Cool in pan for 15 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool completely.
