Mexican corn bread

Serves 10-12
1 lb ground beef
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 (8 1/2 oz) packages corn bread mix
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs, beaten
3/4 cup milk
1 (17 oz) can cream style corn
1 (4 oz) can chopped green chilies, drained
1 Tbsp sugar (optional)
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Cook ground beef with onion in saucepan, stirring until crumbly but not brown; drain. Combine corn bread mix, oil, eggs, milk, corn, chilies and sugar in bowl; mix well.
Layer ground beef mixture nd corn bread mixture 1/2 at a time in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
Bake at 375 F for 20-25 minutes or until brown. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake until cheese is melted.
