Apple fried pies

Serves 8

8 oz dried apples
1 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 recipe flaky pastry (My recipes "breads")

Cook dried apples in water in saucepan over low heat for 20 minutes. Add sugar and spices. Cook for an additional 10 minutes. Remove from heat; add almond extract.
Place 1 portion Flake Pastry between two 12-inch squares waxed paper on damp work surface. Roll into 12-inch circle; remove top sheet of waxed paper. Spoon half the apple mixture onto half the circle; fold pastry over to enclose filling and seal edge. Use edge of floured saucer to cut half circle into 4 wedges, sealing edges. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Repeat with remaining pastry and filling. Bake at 425 F for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
