Refrigerator rolls

Makes 2 dozen

1 pkg yeast
1/2 cup warm water
3 cups flour, sifted
6 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg, well beaten

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix dry ingredients in large bowl; make well in center. Add 1/2 cup water, shortening, yeast and egg; mix lightly until moistened. Do not beat. Store in refrigerator.
Shape into rolls, arranging in greased 9x9-inch baking pans. Let rise until doubled in bulk. Bake at 425 F for 12-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to serving plate.
