Cream cheese topping

1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1 (16 oz.) package powdered sugar, sifted
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 cup finely chopped nuts (optional)

Combine cream cheese and margarine, beating until light and fluffy. Gradually add sugar, beating well. Stir in remaining ingredients. Good on most pumpkin and carrot cake recipes.
