Even the most die-hard carnivore will agree that this grilled mushroom cap is one excellent meat alternative! Forget those yucky 'Garden Burgers'!
Ingredients:
4 Portobello mushroom caps
1/2 cup olive oil
5 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
6 cloves garlic, minced*
2 tablespoons fresh thyme**
Freshly baked hamburger buns
Hamburger "fixins"
Preparation:
Mix olive oil, vinegar, garlic and thyme together.
Place mushrooms in a large resealable bag in a single layer.
Pour mixture over mushrooms and press out as much air as possible.
Seal bag and let sit at room temperature for 2 hours.
Grill mushrooms over a medium heat for 2-3 minutes on each side.
Serve on buns with thinly sliced onion and/or your favorite hamburger fixings.
* may substitute 1 tsp garlic powder
**may substitute 1 tsp dried thyme, parsley, or Italian seasonings blend
