  • hot black coffee
  • 1 jigger brandy
  • 1/2 jigger Cointreau
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 piece orange peel
  • 1 piece lemon peel

Make enough hot black coffee to three quarters fill a heatproof handled glass.

Pour the brandy and Cointreau into a small pan and add the cloves and orange and lemon peels.

Put the pan over a hot heat. Just before the mixture comes to the boil, set it alight with a long taper and pour it flaming over the coffee. Serve at once.
