Perfect Brown Stew

Brown meat cubes about 20 mins. 1 lb. chuck or flank. Brown in a little suet 1 qt boiling water. Add 1 tsp. lemon juice. Add 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce. 1 onion 2 bay leaves. 1 T. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1/2 paprika. a dash of allspice or cloves and a tsp. sugar on with the lid and simmer 2 hrs. 5 or 6 smaller onions. cover and simmer till tender remove meat and veg. Gravy. 4 T. flour with cold water to make a smooth paste. Add a little more water and stir into stew liquid (about two cups) Blend thoroly. Cook 5 min. Return meat and veg for a quick warm up.
