4 slices Raisin Bread
6 ounces fully-cooked sausage cut in 1/4-inch thick slices
1 large peeled, cored apple cut in 1/4-inch thick slices
3/4 cup (3 ounces) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
5 eggs
3/4 cup milk
HEAT oven to 325 F.
PLACE raisin bread in a single layer in a 9-inch square baking dish.
COOK sausage and apple in a large skillet, covered, over medium heat, 5 minutes until apples begin to soften. Uncover and cook until liquid evaporates and sausage is lightly browned, about 3 minutes.
ARRANGE apples and sausage evenly over raisin bread. Top with cheese.
WHISK together eggs and milk; pour over cheese. Let stand five minutes or cover and refrigerate overnight.
BAKE 30 minutes (35 to 40 minutes if refrigerated) until slightly puffy and eggs are set in center. Cut into squares to serve.
