Blue Ridge Smokies BBQ Sauce

1 cup tomato ketchup

3/4 cup red wine vinegar

1/4 cup molasses

1 1/2 tsp. liquid smoke

1/4 rounded tsp. black pepper

1/4 tsp onion salt

1/2 TBSP jarred minced garlic

1/4 cup diced red onion

1/4 cup diced bell pepper

2 TBSP oil

In a saucepan heat oil... add diced vegetables and saute 5 minutes.
Add ketchup, wine vinegar, brown sugar, molasses, liq. smoke, onion salt, garlic, pepper and stir thoroughly till blended.
Heat over medium heat. 15 minutes. Stirring occasionally.
Reduce heat to medium low and simmer with lid ajar... for 30 minutes.
Give it a stir every so often.
It will thicken and darken.
Place in a jar with a lid in the re frig. and enjoy with your fave foods.
