Ready in: 1-2 hrs
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 egg
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- granulated sugar
- pecan halves
Cream together sugar, shortening and syrup in large bowl with electric mixer. Add egg and continue to beat until fluffy. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, ginger and cloves. Gradually add flour mixture to sugar mixture; mix until thoroughly combined. Chill dough. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Roll dough into small balls; roll balls in sugar. Place balls 2-inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten balls slightly. Press pecan half into top of each cookie. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
