Serves/Makes: 6
Ready in: < 30 minutes
- 1 1/2 pound large shrimp
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- oil, for deep frying
Peel and devein the shrimp. Pat dry with paper toweling. Combine the oil and egg in a bowl. Whisk until smooth. Add the flour, milk, seasoned salt, and regular salt and mix until smooth. Preheat oil to 350 degrees F in a deep skillet or deep fryer. Dip the shrimp into the batter, coating them evenly and letting any excess drip off. Add the shrimp to the hot oil, in batches, and cook for 30-60 seconds or until golden brown. Remove the fried shrimp with a slotted spoon and let drain on paper toweling. Repeat with the remaining shrimp. Serve the batter-fried shrimp hot.
