COMPOTE - FRESH BERRY MARSCAPONE CLOUD

Makes 6 servings.

1 1/4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
1 1/4 cups fresh raspberries
1 1/4 cups fresh blackberries
2/3 cup fresh blueberries
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup mascarpone cheese, stirred to loosen
1/2 cup whipping cream
pinch ground cinnamon
4 meringue cookies, coarsely crumbled

In a medium bowl, combine berries, 2 tablespoons sugar and lemon juice.
Toss to mix and let stand for 30 minutes, tossing occasionally, until juices form.
In a large bowl, beat cream, remaining 2 tablespoons sugar and pinch of cinnamon with electric mixer to soft peaks.
Fold one-quarter of the whipped cream into mascarpone cheese to lighten.
Fold in remaining whipped cream to blend.
Using a slotted spoon, divide berries among plates; top with mascarpone mousse.
Sprinkle with meringue cookies; drizzle berry juices around desserts and serve immediately.
