PUDDING - BREAD - PANETTONE

Makes 6 to 8 servings.

1/4 c. butter
4 c. chunk-cut panettone, lightly toasted
2 1/2 c. whole milk
1 1/2 cup light cream
8 eggs
3/4 c. granulated sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1 T. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. grated allspice
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
powdered sugar

Cinnamon Syrup

3/4 c. water
3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1 T. ground cinnamon

Generously butter a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
Place panettone in baking dish in an even layer. Set aside.
In a large bowl, beat eggs with milk and cream until frothy.
Add sugars and spices. Blend well.
Pour egg mixture over panettone. Press lightly with a spoon to allow panettone to absorb egg mixture. Let rest for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350F.
Bake at 350F for 30 to 35 minutes, or until golden brown.
Dust with powdered sugar.
Meanwhile, prepare Cinnamon Syrup.
In a saucepan, combine water and brown sugar.
Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
Stir in cinnamon.
Continue cooking until mixture reduces and forms a thick syrup.
Serve warm with pudding.
