FRENCH TOAST - CREME BRULEE

Makes 4 servings.

1/2 c. unsalted butter
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2 T. corn syrup
8 1-inch thick slices French bread
4 eggs
1 1/2 c. light cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 tsp. Grand Marnier
1/4 tsp. salt

Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Mix in brown sugar and corn syrup, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
Pour into a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
Arrange bread in baking dish in a single layer.
In a small bowl, whisk together eggs, half and half, vanilla extract, orange brandy, and salt.
Pour over the bread; cover, and chill at least 8 hours, or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350. Remove dish from refrigerator and bring to room temperature.
Bake, uncovered, at 350F for 35 to 40 minutes, or until puffed and lightly browned.
Remove from oven, flips slices and broil for 2 to 3 minutes to brown.
