PASTRY - CHEDDAR BACON BISCUIT STICKS

Makes 16 servings.

2 c. all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. shredded Old Cheddar cheese
5 slices bacon
1 c. plain yogurt

Preheat oven to 450F.
Cook bacon in skillet until crisp. Remove to paper towel to cool. Crumble.
Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Cut in butter with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Stir in cheese and bacon. Mix well.
Add yogurt all at once to dry ingredients, stirring to moisten.
Turn out onto lightly floured surface and knead 10 to 15 times to form a smooth dough; mixture will be crumbly at first and comes together when kneaded.
Roll out or pat to an 8 inch square.
Cut in half lengthwise, then cut each half into 8 rectangles.
Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 450F for 10 to 15 minutes, or until golden. Serve warm.
