Frosted Pineapple Cookies

2/3 c. margarine softened
1 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple well drained reserving liquid
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Browned Butter Frosting
2 c. powder sugar
6 Tbs. butter
3 to 4 Tbs. reserved liquid
Heat oven to 350. Lightly grease cookie sheets in large bowl. Beat margarine and brown sugar until light and fluffy, add pineapple, vanilla and eggs. Mix well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup level off. Add flour, soda, b.p. and salt. Mix well. Stir in walnuts. Drop 2" apart onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 8 - 12 minutes til brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet.
To make frosting place powder sugar in small bowl. Heat butter in heavy skillet over medium heat until brown stirring frequently. Pour into powdered sugar, stir adding enough pineapple liquid for desired spreading consistency. Frost cooled cookies. Yield 5 dozen cookies.
